When this box is checked, GrayAMP will only allows files that have correct type to be added to the playlist.
If GrayAMP isn't allowing you to add a file to the Playlist, turn this feature off. However, it is wise to keep this on if you drag & drop folders with MP3s and other files onto the Playlist. GrayAMP will automatically filter out the non-MP3 files.
• AutoPlay
Plays first song in playlist, the first song dropped onto GrayAMP, or any GrayAMP song files double-clicked on in the Finder.
And yes, this feature does work in v1.1. Also, for those of you in a real hurry, you can Option-Drag a song onto GrayAMP's Playlist, and it will play it right away.
• Use Default Playlist
Opens file named "GrayAMP Default Playlist" at startup, assuming that file is in the same folder as the application.
GrayAMP doesn't save changes to playlist unless you tell it to.
• Use QuickTime as player
GrayAMP will use QuickTime 4 instead of MPEGLib (the built-in player) for playing MP3s, after you quit and re-launch GrayAMP.
This feature may be exploited for any reason (maybe you prefer QuickTime). Also, turning this on will allow you to play any other file that QuickTime can play. You must quit and re-launch GrayAMP for the change to take affect, however.
Interface
• Use Navigation Services
Turns Navigation Services support on or off.
I prefer the old standard file dialogs, they load faster when I'm in a hurry.
• Live Window Dragging
Drags windows 'live', or at least attempts to.
Try it, its neat. At least for the first 3 minutes...
• Fade Out on Quit
Fades the volume out when you quit.
Sure it adds an extra second to the quit time, but its better than just chopping the music off.
• Scroll Title
Scrolls the title of the current MP3 through the player's window title.
Some people use GrayAMP just for this feature alone.
• Set Key Bindings
Sets command keys for Playing/Stopping/Etc. in GrayAMP.
Do note, this feature isn't the smartest. If you set Pause to Command-O, it will ignore it and show you the Open dialog.
Advanced
• Folder Scan Depth
Limits how deep folders that are dropped onto the playlist are searched.
Normally 2-deep is good, which will search the immediate folder, and then one more folder depth inward. Set it to Infinite if you want to scan your entire HD for every MP3 you have. Be warned however, if you have Strict File Adding off, it will add every file you have to the playlist.
• Foreground Sleep Time
• Background Sleep Time
Sets the Sleep time limit. Left = Take More Time, Right = Take Less.
And for those of you who are not programmers: This controls how much CPU time GrayAMP will take while in the Foreground or Background. So if you want the Time to update more while in the background, set the slider more to the left.
